Pacific Coast Arena League is Moving Towards Its Thirteenth Season This Year

In 2024, Pacific Coast Arena League is moving towards its thirteenth season on the heels of a hit season last year, highlighting numerous arena polo tournaments under United States Polo Association held all over The Golden State.

Alternatively known as hockey on horseback, arena polo is a ball and mallet sport which is being played on the back of a horse. In an enclosed arena, this polo is played with two goal mouths made in either end of the 300 by 150-foot dirt or sand arena.

With teams of three players, this game is being played, all mounted on horseback. All players have bamboo cane mallets and they try to move the ball and take it to the individual goals to rack up points.
For 7.5 minutes, periods of play lasts and are known as “chukkers” or “chukkas”. Consisting of four chukkers, at the end of a game, the team scores the maximum number of goals actually wins the game. Teams must follow all rules to make sure that the safety of players and horses are maintained.

Arena polo is an exclusive sport with both men and women of all ages contending on the common playing field, forming a competitive environment and establish cooperation so that everyone can enjoy. The 2024’s PCAL will host the National Arena Chairman’s Cup.
