Today information was released by Tourism Council WA to observe World Tourism Day. It shows that Western Australians awesomely support tourism as a crucial way to improve State’s economy.
A recent review of Western Australians disclosed the fact that around 92 per cent had agreed that tourism was significant to the economy of the state. As per Tourism Research Australia, the tourism 2021-22 of the state was worth $8.7 billion and generated a billion dollars in terms of State taxes, besides GST revenue.
Evan Hall, Tourism Council WA CEO, said that a sustainable tourism would initiate huge amount of job generation and gives the sector that motivation to continue to grow the economy of the state.
Mr. Hall said that the tourism industry of WA in 2021-22 generated around 89,100 full-time jobs but they should strive their best to get back to the high point of 2016 with 119,000 full-time equivalent jobs.
Mr. Hall also said that the domestic tourism would profit from developing manageable as well as sustainable products and experiences related to tourism.
Mr. Hall said that tourism is an important industry for the future of Western Australia, mainly for local communities. they should work towards attracting more and more visitors to WA through direct air routes.
