Prepare to spend a bit more on your upcoming holiday! In 2024, renowned vacation spots around the globe are introducing entrance fees and raising prices. Below are some destinations that will be more expensive to enjoy:

Mount Fuji, Japan

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Fuji is confronted with the task of managing visitor access while promoting sustainable tourism and environmental conservation. To find a middle ground, a fee of ¥2,000 (about INR 1100) will be levied on hikers wishing to use the Yoshida Trail beyond the Fifth Station, situated nearly halfway to the peak. Furthermore, the trail will have a daily limit of 4,000 hikers. These steps are taken to diminish trail congestion, reduce overcrowding, and enhance safety for climbers.

Plaza de España, Spain

The Plaza de España in Seville, celebrated for its intricate design, is considering an admission charge to handle the influx of tourists. Mayor Jose Luis Sanz has suggested shutting the plaza to tourists and imposing an entrance fee to aid in its maintenance and security. The plaza, a significant cultural spot in Seville, is the venue for various activities, including concerts and movie shoots, reflecting a larger movement in Europe to regulate visitor numbers at key attractions.

The Louvre, France

The Louvre Museum in Paris is set to up its standard entry price by 29% next year, a decision that has sparked concerns over increasing visitor expenses, especially with the forthcoming Olympic Games. Famous for housing the Mona Lisa, the museum will increase its admission fee from 17 euros to 22 euros ($23.70) starting January, marking its first price rise since 2017. This hike is aimed at offsetting higher energy costs and maintaining free access for specific groups like individuals under 18, teachers, and journalists.

Walt Disney World, USA

Even Walt Disney World, known as the happiest place on Earth, is not exempt from price increases. The resort in Florida has opened reservations for most of 2025, showing a price rise for next year’s theme park tickets. The cost for a one-day, single-park ticket for guests aged over 9 will begin at $119, up from $109 this year for selected dates at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, aligning with the ticket prices at Universal Orlando Resort.
