Showers are expected in a few areas of Sri Lanka today, the Department of Meteorology stated.
A few showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces during the evening or night.
Meanwhile, showers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly over the sea area around the island and the speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 40-45 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
