The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has teamed up with AIS 5G to launch a new campaign called ‘Welcome Back to Thailand’.

As part of the campaign, specially-branded ‘Amazing Thailand SIM’ cards will be offered to tourists, providing them with robust digital services and travel perks for the upcoming high tourist season.

The campaign will run from 17 October 2023 to 31 March 2024.

The TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, stated that this collaboration with AIS 5G and other partners aligns with the Thai government’s efforts to boost tourism income- making it easier for tourists to travel to Thailand.

Measures such as revising and facilitating the visa application procedure and exempting the visa fee have been implemented to attract more visitors.

By leveraging the digital transformation, the TAT aims to expand its collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers.

Thailand has welcomed 20.3 million foreign visitors in 2023, with the majority coming from the Asia-Pacific markets.

The TAT aims to maximize the growth potential of these markets providing tourists with convenient communication systems and digital services through the Amazing Thailand SIM card.

AIS, the leading digital solutions provider, highlights that tourists increasingly rely on digital channels for various services, including financial transactions, accommodation bookings, shopping, and public utilities.

Mr. Pratthana Leelapanang, Chief Consumer Business Officer at AIS, emphasizes the company’s commitment to enhancing tourists’ experiences offering an extensive 5G network across the country.

A total of one million Amazing Thailand SIM cards will be available to tourists through the TAT’s offices in Asia and the South Pacific, as well as through online travel agencies, airlines, and other tourism partners.

To participate in the ‘Welcome Back to Thailand’ campaign, visitors can make travel arrangements with the TAT’s partners in Asia and the South Pacific.

They will receive a QR code to redeem a free SIM card at AIS shops in various airports.

The SIM card comes with a one-day free trial of 8GB max speed internet and can be topped up via the AIS One-2-Call website and AIS WeChat mini program.

Once activated, the SIM card offers a range of travel privileges, including free travel insurance coverage, a welcome package, discounts for online shopping, shopping privileges at selected malls, discounts on travel activities, and special offers from various partners.

Overall, the collaboration between the TAT and AIS 5G aims to enhance the overall experience of tourists visiting Thailand providing them with convenient digital services and exclusive perks during their stay.
