Celebrating Moscow’s Emergence as a Global MICE Powerhouse

[India, 20-DEC-2024] – Moscow shone brightly on the global stage during the Moscow MICE Ambassador Awarding Trip and the Meet Global MICE Congress: BRICS Edition 2024, held from December 14th to 18th. These events demonstrated the city’s evolution into a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

The Congress, hosted for the second time, drew over 1,300 participants from BRICS nations (India, Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa) and the Global South. With the theme “Global Challenges and Trends of the MICE Industry: Towards Sustainable Development through the Prism of BRICS Experience”, the event was a platform for delegates to exchange ideas and explore solutions to ensure sustainable industry growth through innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships.

A Fusion of Culture and Business
Participants were treated to Moscow's cultural and architectural wonders, including Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the State Historical Museum. Unique programs such as "Moscow Tea Time" and "Made in Moscow" showcased the city’s rich heritage and modern innovation, creating a perfect blend of culture and commerce.

The Congress featured 13 business sessions led by 50+ global experts, including:

• Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
• Evgeny Kozlov, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee.
• Amaresh Kumar Tiwari, Immediate Past Vice Chairman of the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB).
• Masood Ahmadvand, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Iran in Moscow.

Notably, acclaimed Russian TV presenter Andrey Malakhov captivated the audience with insights on successful event planning.

A highlight of the Congress was the B2B workshop, facilitating over 2,000 productive meetings. Delegates praised the platform for its role in fostering international partnerships and strengthening Moscow’s position as a key player in the MICE industry.

Site inspections at premier venues such as Lotte Hotel Moscow, Ararat Park Hotel, VTB Arena, and Hyatt Regency Moscow Petrovsky Park underscored the city’s readiness to host global-scale events. Attendees also explored Moscow’s famed metro system and modern attractions like VDNH’s Cosmonautics and Aviation Center, offering a glimpse into the city’s innovative spirit.

Moscow’s Vision for the Future
By 2030, Moscow aims to attract up to 8 million business tourists annually, further solidifying its status as a hub for global business and leisure tourism. With world-class infrastructure, cutting-edge technological services, and over 22,000 dining establishments, the city provides a comprehensive package for event organizers and travelers alike.

Business tourists contribute significantly to the local economy, spending 1.5 to 2 times more than leisure travelers. Additionally, 40% of business travelers return with their families, demonstrating Moscow's unique appeal as both a business and leisure destination.
