In the first half of 2023, Himachal Pradesh has seen a record tourist footfall of around one crore six thousand till June of this year however, torrential rains, deluge and landslides in July in HP have created to a bend in tourism.
Till June 2023, roughly 99, 78,504 local and 28,239 international tourists explored the Himachal with the industry displaying revival signs after the slump caused by the massive pandemic situation which crippled the tourism worldwide.
During the first half in 2018, the tourist arrival was 89 lakh, in 2019, it was 99.57 lakh and in 2020, it was 22.04 lakh. In 2021, it was 19.75 lakh and last year, it was 86.42 lakh. This year, a record was set, as per the statement issued here pin pointed the same.
However the jubilation of grabbing record number of tourists in the first half of this year may be quite diminutive because of the unexpected conditions of weather in July.
As per the HP government, almost 75,000 tourists who got stranded were sent away from Himachal Pradesh after tremendous rains prompted cloudbursts, landslides, and floods which blocked roads on July 9 th and 10 th in the state. In the state, the monsoon rage has stopped the flow of tourists.
