Niagara Falls, spanning the USA and Canada, is estimated to be around 12,000 years old. It plays a significant role in energy infrastructure, with over 3,160 tons of water flowing over it every second, which is diverted for hydropower generation.
Victoria Falls, located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, ranks second with 381,614 hashtags. As one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls is considered the largest waterfall globally, measuring over 1,700 meters wide. The best time to visit is in May, but the later summer months also offer a fantastic experience.
Skógafoss in Iceland ranks third with 348,836 hashtags. It’s one of Iceland’s largest and most beautiful waterfalls, often showcasing at least one rainbow when the sun is out. The surrounding flat land allows for close-up views, perfect for photos.
Iguazu Falls, with 326,010 hashtags, ranks fourth. This waterfall system, shared by Argentina and Brazil, consists of 275 falls and is surrounded by rainforests teeming with thousands of plant, bird, and mammal species. The ‘Devil’s Throat’ viewpoint offers an incredible backdrop for selfies.
Gullfoss in Iceland is fifth, with 307,381 hashtags. Part of the popular Golden Circle sightseeing route, Gullfoss has two stages, 11 meters and 21 meters high, plunging into a deep crevice. On sunny days, the water appears golden brown, giving it the name ‘golden waterfall.’
Yosemite Falls in the USA holds the sixth position with 226,805 hashtags.. It is the tallest waterfall in Yosemite National Park, with a remarkable drop of 739 meters.
Seljalandsfoss, also in Iceland, is seventh with 221,290 hashtags. A large cavern behind the falls allows visitors to walk both in front and behind the waterfall.
Kawasan Falls in the Philippines is eighth, with 170,592 hashtags. This three-stage cascade, located inside a mountain, flows into a beautiful natural pool.
Bridalveil Fall in Yosemite National Park, USA, ranks ninth with 166,872 hashtags. It flows year-round due to the wetland area above that absorbs rain and snow.
Godafoss in Iceland is tenth, with 111,178 hashtags. The fourth Icelandic waterfall in the top ten, Godafoss, is shaped like a curve and cascades 12 meters into a large pool.
