Despite the fact that the pandemic considerably affecting tourism in Vietnam, domestic travel is now
gradually getting better.
As stated by the Vietnam Tourism Administration, last year, 103 million Vietnamese travellers toured within the country.
This year, Chinese tourists in Vietnam are expected to reach 4.5 million, which is approximately 50-80 per cent of the levels before the pandemic.
This renaissance in domestic and worldwide travellers to Vietnam might give rise to bigger demand for buying elephant ivory and other unlawful wildlife items.
As per a survey, Vietnam was the best visited country by Chinese tourists for buying ivory or rhino horn items abroad ever since China’s prohibition of ivory trade in 2017.
Hence, EDF/VCCI is associating with the USAID Saving Threatened Wildlife scheme along with the tourism
segment in Quang Ninh, for prohibiting the claim for using and buying illegitimate wildlife yields as part of the segment’s determinations to progress ecologically mindful and sustainable tourism.
