Belarus Will launch Electronic Visa System for Citizens of 67 Countries

MINSK, 20 December – Belarus will launch an electronic visa system for citizens of 67 countries, reads Council of Ministers’ Resolution No. 953 as of 16 December 2024 that was officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned.

The document amends the visa rules for people traveling to Belarus. In particular, electronic visas will be issued in the automated system Consul. The technological process and terms of issuing e-visas, the scope of information to be submitted in electronic form will be determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Center for Electronic Services.

The opportunity to apply for electronic visas will be given to holders of regular passports from 67 countries, including the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Austria, Belgium, the UK, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. To obtain such a visa, foreign nationals will need to submit a visa application in the personal account of the unified portal of electronic services of the OAIS. There will be no fast-track option for processing a visa application.

Electronic visas will be single-entry individual visas with a validity period of no more than 30 days. Depending on the purpose of the trip, the following categories of visas will be available: business, participation in sports, cultural, scientific, educational events and internships, private trips, tourism.

While entering Belarus and during their stay in the country, foreigners will need to present a copy of the electronic visa in electronic form or on paper at the request of authorities.

The new rules will come into force three months after the official publication of the resolution.

Announced in 2022, Belarus will introduce an electronic visa system (e-Visa) for its foreign visitors from March 20, 2025.

This initiative, detailed in government resolution no. 953 of December 16, 2024, aims to modernize entry procedures and offer a simplified, accessible experience for eligible travelers.

67 countries eligible for electronic visa for Belarus The automation of visa issuance is part of a broader drive to modernize Belarusian consular services, which began with the introduction of the automated “Consul” system in 2016.

Citizens of the following 67 countries and territories will be able to use the e-Visa system to travel to Belarus in 2025:

Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Micronesia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vanuatu and Vatican City.
Belarus: features and application procedure for electronic visa
The electronic visa for Belarus has the following special features:

Valid for a single entry,
Allows a maximum stay of 30 days,
Divided into four categories according to the reason for travel: tourism, business, private visit and participation in cultural, sporting or educational events.
Applications will have to be submitted via the Unified Electronic Services Portal (EPEU OAIS) and the approval time will be seven calendar days, with no possibility of an accelerated procedure.

Applicants must provide :

A completed online application form,
A valid passport,
Proof of medical insurance,
Online payment by credit card.
The online eVisa application form will include questions relating to the traveler (surname, first names, gender, date of birth,…), his/her passport (type, number, validity,…), his/her place of residence (country, postal address, telephone number, e-mail,…), his/her place of study or work (organization or company, position,. ), about the inviting party (inviting organization or person, inviting party’s contact details,…) and some information about the trip (address during the stay, type of host establishment, funds during the stay, medical coverage,…).

The electronic visa will include a QR code enabling its authenticity to be verified via the “E-Pasluga” mobile application.

The Belarusian authorities specify that, during their stay, visitors must be able to present a copy of their e-Visa, in paper or digital format, on request from the relevant services.
