One destination worth considering this summer is Bulgaria. Celebrating 40 years of service from East Midlands Airport, Balkan Holidays offers weekly flights to Burgas on the Black Sea coast every Sunday. This route offers travelers easy access to extensive sandy beaches and a range of resorts, from quaint coastal villages and small resort areas with just a few hotels, to lively resorts brimming with amenities like aqua parks.

Nestled between Greece and Turkey, Bulgaria boasts sunny weather with temperatures typically ranging from the late twenties to mid-thirties Celsius. Additionally, vacationing in Bulgaria remains more budget-friendly compared to most other European destinations, with notably lower costs for dining and other expenses.

The Black Sea coast features a diverse array of resorts, easily accessible from the airport after a three-and-a-half-hour flight. Sunny Beach, Bulgaria’s largest resort, features an 8km-long beach curving around the bay. Close by, Nessebar, a UNESCO-protected ancient village, offers cobbled streets and historic gabled houses. Other coastal gems include Sozopol, an authentic town; Pomorie with its impressive Wave Resort; and Duni, a purpose-built five-star resort. Beyond these, resorts like Golden Sands, St. Konstantin, and Albena add their unique allure.

This year, Balkan Holidays has two deals for a seven-night stay in Sunny Beach: a bed and breakfast package at a three-star hotel starting at £257 per person from June 2, and an all-inclusive package at a four-star hotel priced at £497 per person starting June 9. Both deals include a 22kg luggage allowance and airport transfers.

EMA’s Commercial Director Chris Lane said: “People have been enjoying flying to Bulgaria from East Midlands Airport with Balkan Holidays for many years, but for some it may not be a destination they have considered. With many hotels built or modernised in the last few years, a range of different resorts to choose from, warm sun and low cost flights and prices for holiday expenses, Bulgaria has a lot going for it for our customers.”

Chris Rand of Balkan Holidays said: “We are the leading specialist tour operator to Bulgaria with a long history of flying from East Midlands Airport and a wide choice of hotels and apartments from great value two star hotels to luxury four and five star all-inclusive hotels, all perfect for a family holiday. Combine all this with the low cost of living in Bulgaria and you have the perfect beach holiday destination.”
